Bessie's Wings

An opera written with three primary schools in Lambeth in 2016, with a score by Llywelyn ap Myrddin, Bessie’s Wings told the story of the first African-American female pilot, who grew up in the deep South, and overcame prejudice both to learn how to fly, and to make a living as a pilot in France and America. The piece was created and performed by 90 children, and featured Abigail Kelly in the lead role, with performances at Morley College.
